Project
The Vineyards of Vila Alva Promotion Project, which is focused on the villages of Vila Alva (in the municipality of Cuba) and Vila de Frades (municipality of Vidigueira) is promoted by the Adega Cooperativa de Vidigueira, Cuba e Alvito.
Centennial Vineyards
The oldest vineyards in this part of the country are found between the villages of Vila Alva and Vila de Frades. These old vineyards produce grapes from the Alentejo's traditional white and red grape varieties, some of which are almost extinct. The famous Talha Wine is produced from these rare grapes.

Grape varieties
The Vineyards of Vila Alva, of enormous historical and cultural importance, planted in the heart of the Vinho de Talha area, produce grapes of the most traditional grape varieties of the Alentejo: the white Antão Vaz, Alicante Branco, Diagalves, Larião, Manteúdo, Perrum and Syria (Roupeiro) and the Moreto and Tinta Grossa reds, some of them almost extinct.
Talha Wine
Developed by the Romans and brought to Portugal two thousand years ago, Vidigueira Vinho de Talha DOC is today the greatest symbol of the Alentejo, a region that has been able to preserve this traditional winemaking process. Savoir-faire that has been passed down from generation to generation, at the whim of history and its currents, establishing a cultural heritage of its own, which must be preserved and is inscribed in the cultural legacy of the sub-region of Vidigueira.
