Alicante White

Alicante White

Alicante Branco is an extremely productive, regular, wind-sensitive variety that adapts to all types of soil and low-humidity climates.
The adult leaf is large in size, pentagonal, with 3 lobes, having absent or very weak wrinkling.
From this variety come wines with low alcohol content, straw colour, that are neutral in flavour, with low acidity and very short in the mouth.

Antão Vaz

Antão Vaz

With predominance in Vidigueira, Antão Vaz is one of the most traditional grape varieties in the Alentejo.
The leaf of this vine is small in size, wedge-shaped, pentalobed, and not wrinkled or weak.
The bunches are long and conical, with medium berries, spherical, yellow-green or a toasted yellow, with fine skin, very firm pulp, and with no particular flavours.
This variety leads to wines with a citrine colour, that are distinct and have personality, and which reveal an excellent aromatic pote, which is enhanced with vinification at controlled temperature.

Diagalves

Diagalves

Cultivated from North to South of Portugal, mainly in the interior of the country, this variety has a high but irregular productivity. It is susceptible to leaf loss, bagoinha, bunch rot, diseases and adapts to all types of pruning.
The adult leaf is medium-sized, orbicular, pentalobed, with absent or very weak wrinkling.
The wines from this variety have an herbaceous and slightly fresh aroma, in the mouth it shows little structure, has low alcohol content and acidity, and should be consumed while young.

Larião

Larião

Larião is a grape variety traditionally cultivated in the Alentejo.
Its adult leaf is medium-sized, pentagonal, pentalobate, with medium wrinkling.
This variety is demanding in the conduction of the vegetation, it is of low fertility in the basal eyes, however, its productivity when pruned can be considered average.
Its musts are very low in alcohol and acidity.

Manteúdo

Manteúdo

Originally from the Alentejo, this variety has a large adult leaf, orbicular, pentalobed, without wrinkling.
Productivity is high, sometimes very high, it easily adapts to different types of soil and is only slightly susceptible to diseases and bunch rot.
With medium to late maturation, it has a tendency to accumulate sugar, lose acidity and cause rapid oxidation of the wort. This variety gives us wines with a yellowish hue, with little aromatic-gustatory intensity, where sometimes slight notes of tropical fruit stand out.

Perrum

Perrum

By tradition, it is a grape variety grown in Alentejo and Algarve.
It has an adult leaf of large size, pentagonal, pentalobed, with weak wrinkling.
Its productivity is high and regular, not very sensitive to the most frequent pests and diseases in the Alentejo, but it has some susceptibility to fungi. It adapts with some ease to various types of soil and to the hot climate of the region.
The wines from this grape variety have an open citrus colour and a medium intense fruity aroma. In the flavour, the acidic character of lime and a certain minerality predominates, which is characteristic of the variety.

Síria (Roupeiro)

Síria (Roupeiro)

In Portugal, it originated in the interior of the Beira region and started to be cultivated throughout the country, with the exception of the Atlantic zones of influence.
The adult leaf is medium-sized, pentagonal, pentalobate, with weak wrinkling.
Productivity is high, sensitive to diseases and bunch rot, it prefers hillside soils and a warm temperate climate, with little precipitation in the month of September.
The wine from this variety has a citrus colour, with a fruity aroma of medium intensity (notes of underripe tropical fruit and citrus), revealing itself in the mouth as not especially complex, but with a good balance in terms of its alcohol/acidity ratio.

Castas Tintas

Tinta Grossa
Moreto

Moreto

Cultivated in the Alentejo, this variety has a small adult leaf size, and is pentagonal and pentalobate, with medium wrinkling.
Its productivity is very high and regular, with little sensitivity to diseases and parasites. It requires a climate with high sunshine hours and heat.
It is essentially a blend caste, since the varietal wines have little colour and are normally not very full-bodied. The aroma is not very intense, with some notes of red fruits standing out. It allows for quickly placing each year’s wines on the market, but with limited longevity.

Tinta Grossa

Tinta Grossa

Tinta Grossa is grown in the Douro and Alentejo and is characterized by having a large adult leaf, pentagonal, five-lobed, with strong wrinkling.
It is of average fertility and productivity and adapts well to short pruning.
The musts have a high alcohol content and medium acidity, giving rise to wines with aromas of ripe fruit and jam. In the mouth they are structured and fresh, due to their acidity.
